Thanks to all 50 of the great attendees of our March 2012 Public meeting.  It was a great experience.  My buddies Megren and Mostafa both worked very hard to arrange everything before I joined them.  According to the attendees the session where great and they learnt lot of things from them.  I was unable to take pictures but below are some I was able to do in the lunch and in the end.

We are back, First of all happy new year and we hope that each and every one of you is doing well. We have been off for a while due to some Microsoft events happening in region so frequently. But we are back and this time we are not going away :).

The Riyadh SharePoint User Group Leads are pleased to announce our User Group meetings to be held on 2nd Feb , 2012 at the Prince Sultan University, Riyadh. This meeting has been named as “SharePoint Search Day”. We will try to cover each espect of SharePoint 2010 Search from the perspective of an Architect, End User, Administrator and Developer. In the end of the day you will surly understand som of the new concepts and technologies involved in SharePoint 2010.

A Saudi National, started his IT career in 2002, When he began learning the programming by using VisualBasic 6.0 plus SQL 2000, After that He upgraded to Visual Basic.NET and SQL 2005. He has got Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCP). He is also MCTS for SharePoint 2010, he has extensive skills on the websites development using ASP.NET, ADO.NET and C#, Silverlight and AJAX. Currently He has been working on SharePoint 2010 with extensive experience of Working with InfoPath and SharePoint Designer workflow at Bank Al Bilad. This session will provide a way to access your Busines data resides in SQL Server, Oracle etc using SharePoint Search and how you can use it inside Lists. What is the Indexing mechanism and what are the ways to access LOB data.

Developing Custom Search Web Parts – Mostafa

SharePoint Server search includes great object model that developer can use to develop custom components. In this session Mostafa will talk about how you can customize you search results and make customizations that are not possible through the browser

Improving Search Relavance – Jerry
45 Minutes

In Search, relevance is about how closely the search results that are returned to the user match what the user wanted to find. Ideally, the results that are returned on the first page are the most relevant, so the user does not have to look through several pages of results to find the best matches for their search. This session will provide tips and tricks to tweak relavance.
