Steps to Configure MySite on MOSS 2007

  1. Need two Managed Paths for the Web application Hosting MSit
  1. MySite
  2. Personal or any name you want
  1. Go to SharePoint Central Administration Web Site
  2. Click Application Management tab
  3. Under Web Application Management Section Click "Define Managed Paths".
  4. Select the Web Application that will be hosting MySites
  5. Enter "Personal" in the text box and Select Wildcard Inclusion Click OK 
  6. Enter "MySites" in text box and Select Explicit Inclusion Click OK
  • Creating MySite Host
    1. Go to SharePoint Central Administration Web Site
    2. Click Application Management tab
    3. Under Site Management choose "Create Site collection"
    4. Enter Title as "MySite Host"
    5. Click the URL Drop Down and choose "MySite"
    6. From Templates Select Enterprise and click on "My Site Host" template
    7. Enter Primary and Secondary Owner and Click Create
  • Configuring MySite Settings in SSP Administration Site
    1. Go back to Central Admin,
    2. Go to Shared Services Provider Site for the Web Application
    3. Under personalization Click on "My Site settings" Link
    4. Enter http://yourwebAppname/MySite/ as Personal Site Provider
    5. In Location Enter Personal or your own keyword.
    6. Click OK
  • Creating MySite
    1. Go to your portal page and Click MySite Link in the Welcome control.
