Adding Current Logged in user on the SharePoint 2007 List Page

1. Open the required SharePoint Site in SharePoint Designer using

2. File -> Open Site

3. Click Open

4. From the left side folder list Expand Lists

5. Click on the list page that you want to edit

6. There are two pages that you can edit

a. NewForm.aspx – used for Adding new item in the list

b. Editor.aspx – used for editing an existing item

7. Right Click, the NewForm.aspx and click Check-Out

8. Double Click on the newform.aspx form

9. Now somewhere on the page where appropriate add the source given below.

10. Cont + S to Save the page

11. Right Click on the NewForm.aspx page and click Check-In

12. Goto the document library and click New Item

13. The name of the current logged in user will be visible

  1. Close the site and SharePoint Explorer
