Windows Live messenger Beta

Filed under: Project Server — jerryyasir @ 11:33 am

Oops .. After wait of over 2.5 months I finally received invitation from Microsoft to test Windows Live messenger Beta.  I successfully download and installed the beta and found it better from its predecessor.  The interface is good and management of contacts is much better than old MSN messenger where you can not enter any thing for your contact other than the information already entered by the contact himself.  Now you have many different things available.  Like calling user computer or his number, start video conference etc.  The Title windows is also good because we can change its color as per our own choice with a good look.  Group management is added to the messenger and now we have a good screen available to manage our contacts instead of dragging and dropping the contacts directly on the messenger screen.  There are many more options so I will blog a review in a day or 2.  so stay tuned.

Best Regards,

Jerry

Is Consultant Required for EPM Implementation?

Filed under: Project Server — jerryyasir @ 10:20 am

Dear Daniela,

Yes I do remember your email and there is no need to worry about English,
mine is also not so good. As I am a consultant I welcome any question from
any one.
The Answer to your question is more or less yes. Installing project server
and others software’s does not make sure that the company now has project
management culture. Installing project server is just a step in Enterprise
project management initiative. I give you the example of my current
company. They purchased the License of Project server 3 years ago but were
failed to implement the project management environment. Because consultant
knows all the aspects of EPM system he can get all the requirements from the
company employees that is required for them for an efficient project
management environment. If the end user himself is the implementer, he/she
will be fighting against his requirements and technology provide by MS EPM
solution.
Enterprise project management is more than just a technology. It is a way
of doing business. EPM effects organization culture and way of working.
EPM changes four things in an enterprise
1. Process (How people work in an organization)
2. People (Training of tools and processes)
3. Organization (Project management culture is now ON)
4. Tools and Technologies (New Technologies and tools are used e.g. project
server, project professional, PWA etc..)

EPM initiative provide mechanism to management to ensure that their projects
are running consistently. It also provide the ability to management to
measure the performance of their projects. EPM ensures the efficient
resource planning and management. So a (Tools + Project management )person
will have more power in his hand rather than a person who is just a PM
expert or technology expert. So a consultant/specialist must be the person
implementing EPM in an organization.

I hope I had answered your question. If not please tell me I will answer in
more details. I have also posted this question on my blogs so if you wanted
to see it you can go there and add comments so you don’t need to write email
to me. Their may be a chance that others can also take part in it. My blog
site address is http://jerryyasir.blogspot.com

Subject: Hello, again

Hi Jerry,
I don’t know if you remember me. A time ago, I wrote you an e-mail
asking aid. Today I wanted to ask you something. Once project server
is implemented in an organization, is very large the dependence toward
consultants or microsoft?

Thank you very much for your help. Sorry for the bad english….
